Start With a Ladder of Beads
Make a ladder of beads using an even number of beads. The ladder should have 6 beads or more in it. The ladder in the example has 6 beads.

Continue to Stitch in This Manner
For the remainder of the bead pairs, pick up two beads, go down through the next bead, and come up through three beads. Pull snugly so that the beads just added will “bend down” towards the bottom of the beadwork. Remember that at the last pair of beads, you will go up through four beads instead of three.
Keep your tension tight as you work to get the spiral going. Another benefit of keeping your tension tight is that you will not see much thread in between beads as you work and the spiral will look neater.
