Ryan Kunkle is a former writer for The Spruce who contributed 132 articles on the topic of model trains. Ryan is a national expert on model trains and the Director of Production at Lionel LLC, the premier model train manufacturer in the United States. He is also the former president of the Conrail Historical Society. In both capacities, Ryan speaks and writes on the topic of model trains, and develops model train layouts for public and private display. His current model railroad project replicates Conrail's operations around Pittsburgh, PA in October of 1996 in a 24 ft x 40 ft multi-level HO scale layout.
Ryan has a Bachelors degree from the Honors College at Millersville University in American History and a Masters in American History and Museum Studies from the University of Delaware.
