Let your guests know how welcome they are by embroidering this free pattern featuring a little flower posy tied with a bow.

The floral bundle and ribbon remind me of vintage designs, which are always in style, but the modern font and a selection of fresh colors keep the classic look contemporary too.

Because it's perfect to hang near your front door, or perhaps to give as a housewarming gift, framing your embroidery in a hoop makes it easy to display. It would also make a  beautiful pillow!

As you'll see in the stitch guide, satin stitch is recommended for several areas in the design. To prevent bunching, try adding stabilizer to the back of your fabric.

Now, let's get ready to stitch!

To use the pattern, download the JPG file. Adjust the size to your liking in image software or as you set the page scaling when printing.

Trace or transfer the pattern with your favorite method or print directly onto water-soluble stabilizer for easy pattern marking.

Embroidery the design following the stitch guide below.

You can also skip the "welcome" part of this pattern, and only embroider the posy and bow, filling in the lines covered by the "W".

Welcome Pattern Color & Stitch Guide

There are many ways you could choose to embroider this design and really, there's no wrong way. This guide is just a starting point, so go with what you feel most comfortable with what feels right to you.

Most of the time I stitch with three strands of floss and that would work well for this. However, if you're making this fairly large or want it to be bold, try six strands.

The colors shown are DMC 3803, 504, 3348, 352 and 3781. You may wish to choose colors that are in keeping with your decor.

Use satin stitch for the larger flowers to give them a bold design. The word "welcome" also looks best filled in with horizontal satin stitches. On the thin areas, continue using satin stitch in short horizontal stitches.

Embroider the stems and ribbon with stem stitch. Alternately, you could use satin stitch on the ribbon as well.

Use lazy daisy stitch for the small flowers and the leaves on the stems.

    Happy stitching!
