Start Folding the Flower Stem
Fold the green paper square in half diagonally, then unfold. Fold each side in so the edges meet along the center crease. In origami, this is what is known as a kite base. Bases are the building blocks of origami, so it's helpful to teach young paper folders the names for the different base forms as soon as possible. See the Types of Origami Bases article for more information.

Assemble the Mother's Day Card
Make the base of the Mother's Day card by folding the sheet of light blue construction paper in half horizontally, then folding it in half vertically. Have your child write "Moms Make Kids Blossom" on the front of the paper using a black marker or small alphabet letter stickers.
Use double sided scrapbooking tape to attach the origami flower stem and tulip to the card.
Write a message inside the card, if desired.
