Megan Graney

Megan Graney is a former visual arts teacher and avid at-home painter, seamstress, and general crafter. As a Chicago native, Megan's been interested in repurposed art and design since her first city apartment used antique skyscraper windows as french doors. If you can't find Megan exploring her way through her transplant home of Los Angeles, you might catch her taking in the city's art museums or amazing public murals—she loves to find inspiration in her urban space. When Megan has an odd free afternoon, she enjoys scouring thrift stores and vintage shops for a dress to update or a unique piece of furniture to refinish.

  • Contributor at The Spruce Crafts for one year
  • Visual arts Instructor for four years

As an art teacher, Megan designed and implemented studio arts curricula for all high school grade levels. She also produced an annual art show that featured thousands of pieces of student work. Through her experience teaching, Megan realized the positive impact that engaging with design and creativity has on people of all ages. For the past year, she has been contributing as a writer to publications such as TripSavvy and The Spruce Crafts, and continues to paint, sew, and draw.

Megan studied Psychology at Northwestern University, where she earned her bachelor's degree. She went on to teach high school biology and visual arts in Chicago, where she became an accredited teacher.
