James has been a contributing author on coin collecting for The Spruce Crafts since 2011. He has collected coins for over 40 years and specializes in modern U.S. coins, paper money, and world type coins. His professional numismatic writing accomplishments including being the “Collector Tech” columnist for the ANA’s monthly magazine “The Numismatist,” a contributing writer for national coin collecting magazines, and author/webmaster for the local coin club.
By directing the Young Numismatists club, he is teaching coin collecting to a new generation of collectors. He is well versed in all areas of numismatics, ranging from beginner to advanced. As a part-time coin dealer, he understands the coin collecting market and the subtle nuances of buying and selling coins.
James Bucki has a bachelor degree and master’s degree in business and marketing. He has attended the American Numismatic Association's Summer Seminars and has been trained in coin grading, advanced numismatic negotiations, minting errors, and collecting techniques. His independent study has focused on modern U.S. coins and numismatic marketplace trends.
