Hobnail Glass is a type of glassware design featuring an all-over pattern of raised dots forming a bumpy texture; frequently found on 1800s cranberry glass as well as many Fenton glass pieces made in various types of glass during the 20th century; Depression glass was also made in hobnail patterns although the bumps were less pronounced than in some early blown glass pieces.

Pronunciation: hob-nail

Also Known As: a short large-headed nail used for studding shoe soles

Examples: Don felt the texture of the hobnail pattern as he ran his hand across the vase feeling for rough spots and other damage.
