Caylin Harris

Caylin Harris is a freelance writer, editor, and crafter with 10 years of experience in the media industry. Whether she's working for editorial or branded clients, she loves getting people excited about creating fun and functional projects.

Highlights:

  • Worked as a lifestyle writer and editor for 10 years.
  • Regular contributor to magazines like Better Homes & Gardens, Family Circle, Rachael Ray Every Day, Good Housekeeping, Real Simple, Family Fun, and Parents magazine.
  • Served as craft producer for season three of the Emmy award winning TV show, Naturally, Danny Seo.

Experience

Growing up, Caylin imagined and created some of her own toys and games, which got her crafting at a very young age, so she's always been pretty handy with a glue gun.

After graduating from college, she began working in the magazine industry, working in staff positions at publications like Health, Good Housekeeping, and Parents. Craving a life change and following a desire to do more of the creative work she loves, she went freelance in 2014, expanding the scope of her work to include not only writing and editing but more crafting, styling, and branded content.

She's worked with some of the most influential media brands in the world but truly loves getting to help people learn how to create with their own two hands. Her goal is always to keep her projects accessible and attractive and that's why she loves sharing ideas with The Spruce's audience.

Education

Caylin graduated from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications with a degree in magazine journalism. Working on staff in the magazine industry for six years trained her crafting and styling eye and since going freelance, she's learned how to shoot and edit her own photos for her projects.
